Spent time mapping my M5 today. 3 hours dyno time.
317 whp, where power dips from 5500 to 6000 rpm.
Worked on the dip areas and 315 whp with no dip. Consequent runs lowered peak power from 317 to 315 whp. No cool down time between runs.
317 whp is 453 bhp.
In standard form my M5 was making 236 whp.
I have dynoed Ferrari F430 and it made 350 whp. Once again, Dyno Dynamics measures with a 30 % loss for all BMWs.
E46 M3s make 235 to 245 whp.
E46 330ci make 150-155 whp.
All power runs are made in Shoot Out Mode, where the operator can Not dial any correction factors.
Car is strapped tightly, and does not move forward. So if we would have allowed the M5 to move forward, power figures would be higher. I dont want to fake myself.
Consistent dyno measurements are done when the car is tightly strapped.
After the dyno runs, mapping, hit the road, drove for 1 hour, Oh what a taste.
I am now preparing a list of parts, for rebuilding the engine and making it even more powerful.

Gist of the story, Schrick cams, custom intake manifold, stand alone EMS system, and proper dyno tune increased power from 236 whp to 317 whp.
The increase is 81 whp.
BTW, my air fuel ratios were extremely rich before modifications, some how in the 10,5:1 region. Very rich with all standard parts.
If measured on a different BRAND of dyno, base power could be 278 whp instead of 236 whp. And modified power would be 358 whp.
I am trying to point out to the increase in wheel horsepower, before and after modifications.
