Zitat von m5tourregHi Stevie,
interesting story but was it just a 'red E34 M5-model' or was it one of the
20 'hand-made' and NUMBERED special models that followed the -real-car ???
I take it that you do NOT remember the actual number but did it have a number at all ??? it should even have plague reading "20 Jahre BMW Motorsport GmbH" -
The base-plate on which the model is mounted has a numbered BMW Motorsport plaque, but smaller then the plate I saw when I rode as a passenger in 06/20 last spring. It didn't strike me as unusual at the time because a lot of miniature cars have numbered series in special colours, except that I thought the total of 20 was probably a lie, and the black wheels were not my taste. I don't remember if the M5 model itself has the number as I've never taken it of the baseplate, and don't remeber what the 5mm licenseplate says. I was 15 or so when I bought the model, and didn't even know what a 20-Jahre was....
Same issue with my 1:18 yellow M3 by Minichamps, I only learned years later on eBay that it is a very sought-after 25-Jahre motorsport gift, worth many times it's original value. Unknowingly bought that 2nd-hand by chance as well, but at the MECC in Maastricht

2. I have so far not heard of any confirmation that any one of the 'model-
cars' in fact still exists -
You will soon. Photographic evidence. I bought one at Techno Classica in Essen in 1994 or 1995 from a model vendor simply for being an e34 model I didn't yet have. For a price you'd laugh over now, but cleared out a month of paper-run money back then. It was the ONLY e34 M5 model I'd seen to that day and bought it as such, even regretting that it looked like that stupid red car in the back of all e34 catalogs....... I didn't know any better!!! Space becoming a problem I packed all of my model collection through the years, along with a lot of documentation form the eighties and nineties. Never realising it's significance until a few months ago, it should still be carefully packed among hundereds other miniature scale models at my parents house. If I even go near the boxes I will be forced to remove everything, including all of my archive, and I simply don't have space for that right now. Trust me, this has crossed my mind MANY times lately!!!
It's safe where it is and will come out. Eventualy......
Zitat von m5tourregI even have a factory-built-sheet for the specific car, prod. date 15.10.1992,
engine no: 60230432, gearbox no: 0002101AOJ and apparantly this car was first registered as late as > 03.04.1995 (!!)
So do I. And the list of factory retrofit modifications that it never had. Several EBA updates have not been reported as done to this VIN....
Parts of this car are being sold on Ebay. It kills me to see the real thing being sold in bits! Does anyone see a chance in restoring it???

Engine is aparently damaged, and so is the gearbox. Body has roof damage....
I can't afford it due to a client going bankrupt, but someone please please please save this car!!!!
It was really good to meet all of you! Some of us I had met before at previous meets, but the prolonged stay this time really is different! Much more relaxed then driving up and down in a hurry.
Marion, thanks again for making all the nametags, as a lot of the m5board-guys had never met before either, and thanks to Kons for the passengerlap, from Nynke as well. Passing F430 and Gallardo was perfect!
You all can find a lot of pictures and comments here, along with the usual banter:

Indeed! Tourings are meant for bringing spare tires, tools and drinks to the Ring!
At least I know where I'll put mine during the meet! In the back of Kaiser Wilhelm II...........
Zitat von KonsThose are pictures of Christian Moskopp from the touristenfahrer.de board - I got those by request, as he doesn't put them online.

Ahh, too bad! By the way, upon leaving the Ring we came across someone who nicked the plate off your Touring........
