M5 / 20 jahre

  • i don't know if it was that car, but i can tell you that the car is now in good hands. ;)

I think that this is the same car you guys were talking about it:http://www.euromcars.com/cars/germany/m520y/

I just hope that he sold the car to an enthusiast, fan just like us.

    Hi Kris,

yes - that's exactly the car the thread was all about. Please let me assure you that it is with some true enthusiasts indeed now - so absolutely no need to worry!

    Kris,

well, sometimes you lose - sometimes the others do win :pp:
But I guess it would've been quite a task getting this baby abroad anyway. As far as I know, lots of paperwork and stuff... finally, the car still needs to be federalized for the US, right?
BY the way, your german is pretty good - you 're already familiar with the basics of communication :) Just drop us a quick line if you ever plan to visit germany.

Good luck for your search - the next one is yours!

    Take care

  • :)

Well, The good thing about this car was that the car has allready AIRBAG which would save me a LOT of $$$$$$$ and I'm sure it's gonna be hard to find another one with airbag.
Now you might be SHOCKED! To shipp and federalized the car would cost me about $15,000  :) but hey..there's only 20/20 jahre ever made!
As for my german, I lived in Koblenz and Kasttellaun back in '89-'91 :)
Sure I will, I missed AUTOBAHN & "Alles in Ordnung" a LOT (no stau back then)

Would be nice if you could post some pics. a lot of photos OK!!

    Rgds,
    Kris,

purchase price + shipping to an US-port + transfer to Federalization Company- and then it starts:
    > waiting time appr. 4 to 12 months !!!!!
    > costs appr. 6.000 to 12.000 USD for DOT/EPA-approval, rebuilt to US-standards, sidemarkers etc. etc.
    -
this was just done with one of the 20 Elekta-M5tourings and there are
about 25 M5tourings in the US that have gone thru this procedure -
    -
they are -real- freaks 'over there' and the E34 M5 is a real 'cult-car'
    -
    Kris@
let me/us know about your research project >
8 of the 20 x "20 Jahre"-cars are located (some of them are in a poor state),
three/3 of them are running in Sweden, one of them 'upgraded ????' to
a track car (it is nice BUT why cud he not have taking a -normal' M5 ???) :( :( :(
